Water Tramp – A Splash of Fun, A Lesson in Safety *Christchurch Only.
Water Tramp is a high-energy, safety-focused water programme designed to teach tamariki how to enjoy lakes safely, while bouncing, splashing, and laughing along the way! Centered around the excitement of a water trampoline, the programme mixes outdoor adventure with practical life-saving skills in a way that’s both memorable and meaningful.
Tamariki get to jump, play, and challenge themselves on the water tramp under close supervision, all while learning the golden rules of being safe around water. Trained instructors guide them through activities that build balance, awareness, and respect for their surroundings.
Life jackets are a must and they’re worn during all water-based activities. Tamariki learn how to properly put one on, why it’s essential (even for strong swimmers), and how it can make all the difference in an emergency.
Let’s make a splash, the safe way!
River Smart – Learning to Respect the Flow *Christchurch Only
River Smart is a water safety programme dedicated to teaching children and families how to enjoy rivers safely and responsibly. Rivers are beautiful places to explore, swim, and play, but they can also be unpredictable and dangerous if you don’t know what to watch out for.
This programme is designed to build awareness, confidence, and safety skills around rivers, especially for tamariki who may not realize that even shallow or calm-looking water can have strong currents, hidden rocks, or sudden drop-offs.
Through fun, hands-on activities, River Smart teaches kids:
How to recognize common river hazards like fast currents, slippery rocks, and undercurrents
How to safely enter and exit the water
What to do if they fall in unexpectedly
The programme also highlights the differences between rivers and other water environments like pools or lakes, helping children understand that not all water is the same.
With the guidance of experienced instructors, tamariki practices real-life scenarios in safe, controlled settings. They learn how to move through water safely, signal for help, and help others without putting themselves at risk.
River Smart is more than safety; it’s about respecting nature, making smart choices, and feeling confident in and around rivers.
