🎨 It's craft time! - Egg Carton Flowers

An eco-friendly Easter activity for kids of all ages!

Looking for hands-on fun this Easter? These DIY flowers are simple enough for preschoolers but creative enough for older kids too. Plus, you’ll be giving a second life to those empty egg cartons!

🌸 What You’ll Need:

  • An empty cardboard egg carton
  • Child-safe paint (spring colours like pink, yellow, purple, blue)
  • Paintbrushes or sponges
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaners (green preferred, for stems)
  • Small beads, buttons, or pom-poms (for flower centres)
  • Glue
  • A pencil or something to poke holes

Instructions:

Step 1: Cut the Egg Cups (Parents to prep)

  • Cut the egg carton into individual cups—each one becomes a flower.
  • Trim the edges of each cup into petal shapes (round, pointed, or fringed).
  • For layered flowers, glue one cup inside another.

Step 2: Paint the Flowers

  • Let your child paint the cups however they like! Pastels, patterns, or even rainbow flowers—let creativity bloom.
  • Let them dry completely (about 15–30 mins).

Step 3: Add the Centre

  • Glue a bead, button, pom-pom, or rolled-up paper into the middle of the flower for a cute finishing touch.

Step 4: Attach the Stem

  • Poke a small hole in the bottom of the cup.
  • Thread a pipe cleaner through and twist it inside to hold (or glue it if needed).

Step 5: Display Your Blooms!

  • Pop your flowers into a vase, recycled jar, or foam block for a bright Easter display.

 Tips:

  • Add paper or felt leaves to the pipe cleaner stem.
  • Turn it into a Mother's Day bouquet by adding a handwritten note to a leaf.
  • Decorate with glitter glue, stickers, or sequins to make them sparkle.
