Emergency Housing Programme in the News

 LATEST NEWS

'It takes a village.'

Over the last two years we have been working with Whitiora school, and NZ Police and with funding from MSD to create the Te Huarahi Hou programme in Hamilton. Aimed at the growing number of young people who end up with their families in Hamilton's emergency housing - this after school programme is about giving them a safe space to go, fun activities to try as well as something to eat. It brings a degree of normalcy to their lives and the police involvement in the programme has the added benefit of changing the way that the young people view the police.

The programme was featured recently on RNZ and in the Waikato Times
