Youthtown has been operating since 2007 in Upper Hutt and is now close at capacity at its current venue at Maidstone Pavilion. We’re now at the stage where we can hire a dedicated branch manager for the first time, as well as shop around for a larger venue. Up to 80 young people take part in school holiday and after-school programmes in the city and, with Penny’s leadership, there’s so much more we can do! Penny joins Youthtown after a challenging role ensuring the smooth running of four North Island branches for CanTeen, a not-for-profit organisation that assists young people with cancer. Penny will continue to build on Youthtown’s close partnership with the Upper Hutt City Council (UHCC) on joint Activation programmes, which aim to increase the participation Upper Hutt youth in a wide range of recreational activities such as physical, social and creative experiences.
