Youthtown's Youth Ambassadors take up the fight against rheumatic fever

Youthtown is underway with recruiting 100 Youth Ambassadors as part of a wider Ministry of Health initiative to prevent Rheumatic Fever, while taking up some amazing development opportunities to give them a voice in their communities (application and information form HERE)

Term 4 with Tana

Tana Umaga, Youthtown’s Sports Programme Ambassador has been getting right amongst our programmes this term, as well as behind the scenes supporting the Sports Teams’ Training.

The Sports Teams deliver during school time for Primary and Intermediate Schools across New Zealand, as well as after school and in holidays at our Youthtown sites, for ages 5-18.

Minister Dunne joins Youthtown

On Friday last week, Hon. Peter Dunne, New Zealand’s Minister of Internal Affairs, joined the Youthtown Sports Programme at Point England School. He was keen to see for himself how the community benefits from funds raised through the Gambling sector.

Some of the proceeds from the class 4 gambling sector (pubs/clubs gaming machines) support our Youthtown Programmes.

Point England School students taking part in Youthtown’s regular Sport Programme were stoked to demonstrate their new skills and even encouraged Minister Dunne to join in!

Youthtown Receives Equal Pay Award

Another proud moment yesterday as Youthtown was selected as the winner of the Silver Distinguished Award in the YWCA Equal Pay Awards.

One of our strategic goals at Youthtown is to “Attract, Inspire and Develop Exceptional People” and we recognise that the way in which we approach fairness, diversity and inclusion is critical to achieving this goal.

Stars Align in Support of Youthtown

On Tuesday this week, in Christchurch, Youthtown held a Legislation Update for all Venues across New Zealand that support Youthtown in their communities.

We had two Kiwi sport stars as our guests : Frank Bunce (ex-All Black) and Tana Umaga (ex-All Black), who acknowledged the group’s choice in Youthtown, as their Trust.
